2008 DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE RESEARCH DAY

SATURDAY, October 4, 2008

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Northwest Auditorium/Covel Commons

The Department of Medicine Research Day on Saturday, October 4, 2008 will be divided into a morning plenary session and an afternoon poster session. All attendees are invited to a continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon wine/cheese reception.

Participation in the afternoon poster session requires submission of an abstract. The deadline for abstract submission is August 15, 2008.

NEW THIS YEAR: In order to foster interactions between research groups within the Department of Medicine, there will be a new competition which will result in two awards (one wet lab & one non-wet lab) of $50,000 each for pilot studies leading to an R01 or P01.

Rules: Proposals submitted must be a collaborative research effort from two PI groups, both of which must have presented posters at the DOM Research Day poster session on October 4, 2008. Deadline for proposal submission is Feburary 1, 2009. A panel of judges will rank the proposals, and winners will be funded effective July 1, 2009. Winners must agree to submit an R01 or P01 proposal on the topic of the award by July 1, 2011.
